Steam whistle at the barncroft mill engine in lancashire. Ambient escaping steam sound from a vent between blasts of whistle. Whistle was sounded once. Edited to give four blasts. Audio taken from a video camera recording.
This is a recording made on an iphone se using the now discontinued sennheiser ambeo vr headset for binaural "3d" recording. This recording has not been processed in any way except for the levels which were normalized. Since it was a cold windy day, i believe i had the mics under a thin hat, which acted as a wind shield. This may have slightly muted the higher frequencies but it shielded the mics from wind noise. I will make some more recordings and share them.

To this recording there is a similar recording in with jecklin, useing bothe will creating a nice atmospher for surround ms in front and jecklin in rear.

This recording, unlike my previous insect recordings, was taken in an actual forrest on south mountain reservation, millburn nj (as opposed to my backyard). There is a distant airplane in the background (south mountain is near newark airport) but otherwise its much cleaner than my previous recordings, pretty much isolating the patch of crickets. ---two primo em172 capsules -> zoom h1.
